downside of the real world: i'm tired all the time.

the job is going pretty well so far. my trainer says i'm picking up on stuff (e.g., ACS style and learning how to use framemaker; UNIX can still go to hell) more quickly than most new people, and that i seem to have a better understanding of the company's editing philosophy than many others. so that's good. i've been eating lunch with a group of about 6-8 people in my department who are one of the two "younger" (read: under 30) crowds in our department, and they've been enjoyable. it seems like they hang out on weekends some too, so perhaps i'll finally have some non-boyfriend people to hang out with here. oh, and apparently ryan chose this weekend to finally start hanging out with people from work - one couple lives like 5 min from us, and he says i'm going to looove the girlfriend so the guys decided we're hanging out more.

but anyway, i'm just so darn tired every day. my body still won't let me fall asleep before 11:30 or after, and the alarm starts going off at 6, when my body likes 8-9 hours a night. so i spend part of every day struggling just to stay coherent enough to carefully read difficult-to-understand manuscripts so that i stop making as many mistakes. needless to say, i have not been working out, which doesn't help, but we all know what a downward spiral that is - tired, so don't work out, so stay tired, etc. i'm thinking about signing up for classes or something at the dublin rec center, because it costs so much i'll hate myself if i waste the money.

the unexpected surprise of the week was that work got canceled yesterday. there was a water main break that flooded a couple blocks of my street and cut off our water supply, so they sent everyone home when we got there. of course, yesterday was the ONE DAY i haven't been tired in the morning, so i spent the day checking allll sorts of errands off my list and treating myself to a little bit of shopping. yay for what amounts to a free (paid) vacation day!

let's see, what else ... i went to purdue this weekend, had a wonderful time! basically just a lot of partying, catching up with people, going out to eat, late night bonding, etc. i talked so much i lost my voice by saturday afternoon. it wasn't 100% back to normal til yesterday. i think i'm adjusting more to the non-college life, but it is still so nice to have a crazy weekend every now and then. and getting to have good conversations with my favorite people is ... i don't know, rejuvenating? it makes me very happy, that's for sure.

the only downside to the weekend was the whole moving process. bethany failed to tell me just how early the new tenants (her friends) wanted to move in (our lease isn't up til aug. 10.) the new girl showed up @ 9:30 saturday morning with her parents and a uhaul, and boy were they pissed to see an apartment full of stuff with people still in it (guess who didn't communicate to heather or emily, either?) between dealing with that awkwardness and inconvenience, and helping the boys get all their furniture out, and heather moving out, it was a little stressful. but it turned out ok.

the only interesting things coming up are the dublin irish festival this weekend, which i'm excited about (and flogging molly will be there, for only the $8 festival entry fee!), and craiggers is visiting friday night on his way to akron, and the next weekend i am flying to meet my family in georgia cuz my brother gets a 34-hour pass to leave the base and visit with us. yay!

and i'm out, it's dinner time and i'm starving!
